I didn’t take her seriously until I came home for Christmas break during my freshman year at college. As always, if I had a break or could come home on a weekend I always called Betsy so we could hang out and see the kids. It was then she said, “Megzie go tour the schools and just see what you think!”
The rest is history!
I graduated top of my class at The Aveda Institute in New Orleans in 2011! I went straight to work at Red River Dermatology. It was home to me for the next 5 years. Not only did I do aesthetics for RRD but I also worked reception, and would then go on to help Dr. Long in the clinic. It was then I decided I needed a change. So I sought out to learn a job in a more “spa” environment, I get like there were more skills I could learn... so I did just that. I worked at a local spa for 2 years, strengthening my skill set and stepping out of my comfort zone. In 2016, Cody and I learned I was pregnant and I stopped working for a little bit to take care of myself and prepare to be a new mother. On June 22, 2017, we welcome Aliza June to the world and our life has forever been changed!
Fast Forward to December 2017, I was ready to return to work and my clients but this time I wanted to work for myself. So back to Betsy I went, she had a room waiting for me at Red River Dermatology, I rented a room in the back from her and grew my own aesthetic practice. I will cherish those years I had at RRD forever, those will forever be the times I can’t get back. Dr. Betsy Long recently passed away very unexpectedly and she is missed beyond measure. What a role she played in my life and I couldn’t even imagine a day she wouldn’t be in our lives.
After some time off to grieve my beautiful friend I have now found myself again opening a new chapter of my life and I hope you will all come along for the ride with me!
